FREDERICKSBURG, Texas (AP) — Three people have died in a Central Texas helicopter crash in an accident site located with help from an emergency beacon.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says the wreckage and bodies were discovered Friday morning in northeast Kendall County. The location is about 20 miles southeast of Fredericksburg.

DPS Trooper Jason Reyes had no immediate details on the victims, where the flight originated or the destination.

The Federal Aviation Administration says the crash involved a Robinson R44, which is a four-passenger helicopter.

Reyes says the search began Thursday evening when an airborne pilot reported an emergency locater beacon transmitting in the area.

A DPS helicopter joined the search but poor weather conditions led to rescue efforts called off for the night. Searchers located the wreckage around 7:45 a.m. Friday.

The crash occurred Ranch Road 1888 and FM 1376, south of Luckenbach.
