BURNET, Texas (KXAN) - Crews are installing a center turning lane at State Highway 29 and County Road 252 in Burnet County following the school bus wreck that killed teen siblings in February.
Sierra Hardin, 16, and Caleb Hardin, 14, died instantly when the four-door car slammed into the back of a school bus while it was stopped in the lane trying to turn.
The lane addition will cost about $500,000 and will be finished in August 2013.
While the lane is being constructed, temporary rumble strips will be installed on the sides to let drivers know when they are driving out of their lane.
The temporary makeover will be ready by the time school starts.
