LAGO VISTA, Texas (KXAN) - North Lake Travis firefighters contained a brush fire in an undeveloped canyon in Lago Vista near the airport, off of Archer Cove.
The fire was approximately three to five acres in size, but crews were having trouble containing it because of the rough terrain in the area according to Chief Raymond Tenneson.
STAR Flight assisted with water drops and hand crews and brush trucks from Lago Vista and Cedar Park helped to put out hot spots.
Tenneson said a few houses located within a half mile of the canyon were not threatened and no evacuations were necessary.
Crews worked to keep the fire contained in the canyon and until winds died down after sunset, making it easier for crews to put out the fire.
