Blanco County is not immune from the rash of copper thefts that have plagued Central Texas in recent weeks.

The county sheriff’s office and Crime Stoppers are asking for the public’s help in solving solving last week's theft of copper wire from Verizon telephone company at the corner of Highway 281 and Ranch Road 473 East.

The June 16 theft, which occurred around 2:30 a.m., interrupted phone service for the southern part of the county including 911 services, the sheriff's office said.

Any one who saw anything suspicious should contact Sgt. Bob Shelton with Blanco County Sheriff’s office at 512-556-8255. Or, they can contact Crime Stoppers and leave an anonymous tip.

Authorities are offering a reward of up to $2,000. The tip-line number is 1-866-756-8477. To make a report online, click here .
