BURNET, Texas (KXAN) - The Burnet Volunteer Fire Department finally contained a 150-acre ranch fire northwest of Burnet.
Volunteer Fire Chief Randy Meeks said the initial fire call, on land known as the Company Ranch off County Road 108, came in on Friday morning. The fire department thought it had the fire contained with a bulldozer line on Friday afternoon, but once the winds changed, the fire began to spread. The fire, which was fueled by cut cedar, was contained about 3 a.m. on Sunday morning
No structures were in danger, and no injuries were reported. Approximately 40 firefighters worked the blaze. The fire was never large enough to request the assistance of the Texas Forest Service.
The Burnet Volunteer Fire Department serves a 314-square-mile area outside the Burnet city limits.
