WIMBERLEY, TEXAS (KXAN) - The body of missing kayaker Ian Townsend was found early Saturday morning in the Blanco River.

No one had seen or heard from 34-year-old Townsend since he stopped to rest on the bank of the Blanco River in Wimberley Thursday evening.

According to the Hays County Sheriff's Office Townsend was with a friend and reportedly chose to stop and rest near Wayside Drive and County Road 1492. When friends returned to get Townsend, he was gone.

Hays County deputies and Wimberley Fire and Rescue were called out to the area and conducted a search for Townsend. An exhaustive search by air, boat and foot turned up nothing.

Townsend lived in the Austin area. According to his Google profile , he is a carpenter from Florida who loves “being on the water, boats, fishing, beaches, etc…saltwater or freshwater, it does not matter! Anything else comes in second!”
