SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) - A San Marcos mother whose 2-year-old wandered onto an Interstate 35 frontage road last month has been arrested on charges of abandonment of a child in imminent danger of bodily injury.
According to San Marcos police, 23-year-old Jillian Wright went to a car wash and placed her 9-year-old daughter in charge of her three younger children. The 2-year-old apparently wandered off and was found on the three-lane frontage road where the speed limit is 45 mph.
Police said the child was nearly hit by several vehicles. Some 20 minutes had passed before Wright came to get the girl, police said.
After her arrest, Wright's children were placed in the custody of state authorities. She is charged with a second-degree felony.
