HAYS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) - The Hays school board on Monday named the deputy superintendent as the district's acting chief while the search continues for a permanent replacement for Jeremy Lyon, who is in line to become superintendent in Frisco.
Deputy Superintendent Carter Scherff has worked in the district since February 2003. This will be his second time the board named him the interim superintendent. He first held that position in 2009 before trustees settled on Lyon.
The board expects the process for finding a new superintendent to take several months.
