SAN MARCOS (KXAN) - With the record breaking temperatures we experience each summer, air condition prices rocket to unaffordable prices for some Central Texans, so The Family Eldercare’s annual summer fan drive provides relief to families that can not beat the heat.
For over 20 years, the fan drive has been serving low-income seniors, adults with disabilities and families with children. Last year Family Eldercare was able to give out nearly 7,000 fans and 163 air conditioners to those in need thanks to the community's support.
According to the Family Eldercare website, the drive also provides an opportunity to offer further relief from other challenges such as such as, a lack of food, housing or medical care.
The public can donate cash or a new fan, 12 inches or larger, if it's an oscillating fan, or 20-inch box fans.
Donations can also be made online . There are several donation locations all over Central Texas available to drop off fans.
The fan drive started in May and will last throughout August.
