DRIPPING SPRINGS, Texas (KXAN) - A 17-year-old Dripping Springs High School was arrested on Friday afternoon for allegedly assaulting another student at the school on Tuesday.
According to the Hays County Sheriff’s Office, the altercation happened in one of the school's male bathrooms between the suspect, Carlos Montrez Favors-Battle, and a 15-year-old male.
The 15-year-old student sustained serious head injuries and was transported to University Medical Center Brackenridge Hospital in critical condition, but he is expected to recover from his injuries.
In a statement, the Dripping Springs Independent School District claims "This was an isolated incident that does not pose a threat to other students. Dripping Springs High School and Dripping Springs ISD are committed to ensuring a safe environment for all students."
Favors-Battle has been charged with aggravated assault with serious bodily injury, which is a second-degree felony.
