DRIPPING SPRINGS, Texas (KXAN) - The annual Fall Fest Pioneer Day will be held September 22, at the historical farmstead often called "The Pound House."

Guests will be taken back in time to the 1800s with live music, great food, historical demonstrations and games. Past favorite like candle and soap making will also be back.

You can also expect lots of pound cake. Below is Mrs. Sarah's famous recipe to try at home.

The admission fee is 5 dollars and will the gates open at 10 a.m.

Mrs. Sarah Pound’s 1854 Pound Cake Recipe

Ingredients

For cake
-1 pound of sugar

-1 pound of butter or margarine

-1 pound of flour

-6 egg (yokes and whites separated)

-2 tsps. baking powder

-2 tsps. vanilla extract

Mix sugar, butter, egg yolks to a cream. Sift flour and baking powder
and add alternately to mixture with beaten egg whites. Add up to one teaspoon each of rum, lemon, coconut, almond flavoring.

Bake at 350 degrees for 1 and one-half hours

For glaze
-1 cup sugar

-½ cup water

Add cup of sugar to boiling water. Boil for one minute. Add one teaspoon each of
one teaspoon almond, lemon, coconut, rum flavoring.
Poke holes in warm cake with tooth pick, drizzle glaze over cake
