BUDA, Texas (KXAN) - Forty-one chickens and roosters were seized by police in Hays County, saved from what police call a cockfighting ring.
Police found the 19 roosters and 21 chickens inside a home near downtown Buda. They were tipped off by an animal control officer who was responding to a loose dog near the home on Earl Street.
The owner signed over the animals Wednesday to avoid having to go to a court hearing on Thursday.
Sadly, 18 roosters had to be euthanized because they were so aggressive.
The other birds were adopted out.
