WIMBERLEY, Texas (KXAN) - A fire on Friday night led to the total loss of a hardware store in downtown Wimberley.
Firefighters across Hays County joined to fight fire that started at the ACE Hardware in Downtown Wimberley in the 14300 block of Ranch Road 12 around 9:30 p.m. on Friday.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, there was already heavy fire coming from the building. The Hays County Fire Marshal said the fire quickly spread and ended up destroying the store.
The store was closed and no one was inside the store at the time of the fire.
People who live in the area say this hardware store was the main one they go to.
"I was up here about once a week and the people were very friendly, you walk in the door and it's really sad to see something like this go down here in Wimberley," said Brian Morrow.
Hays County Assistant Fire Marshall Clint Browning said they had to bring in heavy equipment to help remove the roof on Monday.
On Tuesday, the Fire Marshals office said they found no evidence of wrongdoing or criminal activity related to the fire.
The exact cause of the fire will remain undetermined due to the extensive damage to the property.
