SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) - A San Marcos child taken by her father to Mexico nearly a year ago in violation of a court order was reunited with her mother last week after Mexican courts ruled against him in a civil custody case, authorities said Monday.

Sarahi Sanchez Garcia, age 3 and an American citizen, was reunited with her mother on Dec. 5.

Armando Munoz Garcia 46, fled with his daughter to Mexico on Jan. 15 in violation of a child custody order from Caldwell County prohibiting her removal from Texas.

Munoz Garcia remains in Mexico and is wanted on a San Marcos arrest warrant for interference with child custody, a state jail felony that carries a possible sentence of up to two years in jail and up to a $10,000 fine.
