AUSTIN (KXAN) - H-E-B has kicked off a fund-raising drive this weekend to provide support for the return of the Trail of Lights.

This weekend, area stores and Central Market locations will give Central Texans a chance to donate in increments of $1, $3 and $5, on top of their grocery bill, to the Trail of Lights fund.

Small trail displays will be at the Hancock Center and Circle C H-E-B locations for taking holiday pictures.  The Hancock location display and pictures will be open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Circle C location display and pictures will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The 2012 Trail of Lights will be "powered" by H-E-B and will open on Sunday, Dec. 16, for an eight-day run. The event will be a partnership with the RunTex Carrozza Foundation and Forefront Austin.

RunTex CEO, Paul Carrozza told KXAN, "We're really excited with our presenting sponsor, H-E-B, they've opened up their doors this weekend to bring awareness back to the community that the trail of lights is back and as we're saying Light It Up Austin."
