GEORGETOWN, Texas (KXAN) - Thousands of people came out for the annual Lighting of the Square in downtown Georgetown.
Georgetown Mayor George Garver and Williamson County Precict 1 Commissioner Lisa Birkman lead the official lighting of the Courthouse and grounds.
The town square was decked out with decorations, carolers, and even Santa.
Stores stayed open late to accomodate the crowds.
Williamson County Sheriffs Office was collecting donations of toys and money for the Brown Santa program. The annual program provides assistance to families living outside the geographical city limits of any town or city in Williamson County.
More than 7,600 additional lights were added to the Courthouse and grounds through generous donations from businesses and residents in Williamson County.
