FLORENCE, Texas (KXAN) - Water customers in Florence will be without service until Friday morning, according to officials.
An eight-inch water main broke Thursday morning, shutting down service to the entire city, affecting 500 customers.
Officials say the water main has been repaired but the system needs to be re-pressurized and won’t be back up until 10:00 a.m. Friday.
“The City is asking that once water service is re-established, citizens curtail their use of water as Stage 5 water rationing has been enacted until further notice.”
Customers should boil all water for cooking, drinking, ice making until further notice.
The City is distributing bottled water to its customers at Florence Middle School on Friday from 6-9 a.m., 12-2 p.m., and 6-9 p.m.
The Florence school district dismissed students early on Thursday and will start at 10 a.m. on Friday. Florence ISD buses will run two hours later than normal.
Thursday’s middle school and junior varsity football games have been rescheduled. The games will be played in Academy at 4:00p.m., 5:00p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
