AUSTIN (KXAN) - A vigil at Auditorium Shores lit up Austin's support for the earthquake and tsunami victims in Japan.
A few dozen people showed up Sunday night to listen to a band, share in a moment of silence and then participate in a flashlight march around Lady Bird Lake.
One mother said taking her kids to events like that helps her teach them about what's going on in the world.
"They've talked about it a little bit at school, but I just want them to be aware of the tragedy that's happening around the world -- not just the things they see at home," said Sarah Sallis.
The Red Cross and nonprofit SXSW Cares hosted the event.
