AUSTIN (KXAN) - As the party got started at the Austin City Limits Music Festival, the recent fire disasters were not far from mind.
“Who has a dollar for me? One dollar?” yelled a volunteer outside the front gate as she asked for music fans to donate.
The “Do Good Bus” pulled into Austin and the festival to help raise money for volunteer fire departments in Texas.
The organization partnered with the band “Foster the People” and is making trips to 24 cities across the country. In each city, they gather volunteers to “do good” for a different cause.
“With so many communities in Texas that have been affected by wildfires, it was obvious to take care of the communities that have been affected the most,” said Do Good Bus founder Stephen Snedden.
Snedden also said for each dollar donated at the festival, ACL has pledged to make a matching donation.
Fans making their way through the front gate filled boots with dollar bills.
“It has been amazing what they have been doing. It is incredibly tough and we want to help out,” said Doug Bain just moments after stuffing his donation in a boot.
