AUSTIN (KXAN) - Along with the big crowds expected for the Austin City Limits Music Festival this weekend, you can also plan on traffic snarls.
There will be some complete closures, as well as lane blockages, throughout the weekend around Zilker Park.
As of Thursday night, Barton Springs Road was shut down between Robert E. Lee Road and Columbus Street, as well as Stratford Drive between Barton Springs Road and Nature Center Drive.
In addition, San Antonio Street between West Third and West Fourth streets and West Fourth between Guadalupe and Nueces streets are both closed to through traffic. However, shuttle buses will pick up and drop off from those spots.
ACL-goers can walk, bike or catch a shuttle from Republic Square Park to Zilker Park. This year, however, parking will not be permitted along the MoPac frontage Road at Zilker Park due to the potential fire hazard. Violators will be towed.
Detours for the ACL closures include MoPac, Cesar Chavez Street and Lamar Boulevard, but expect heavy volumes along those stretches with the extra traffic volumes expected throughout the weekend.
