DPS: Car caused fatal crash, drove off

AUSTIN (KXAN) - Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety are looking for a vehicle that they said never stopped after causing a fatal crash in Northwest Austin Wednesday night.

According to a trooper's report, an unknown vehicle was traveling near northbound on FM 620 near Boulder Lane when it hit a Ford pickup truck.

That collision, investigators said, caused the driver to lose control and slam into a Chevy SUV that was traveling in the southbound lanes in the opposite direction.

The crash happened round 9:30 p.m. Wednesday. The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at University Medical Center Brackenridge about 45 minutes later.

Troopers said they are searching for the driver of that unknown vehicle.
