AUSTIN (KXAN) - A car fire shut down the eastbound lanes of State Highway 71 just east of Iinterstate 35 just before noon Thursday.

The driver told KXAN News he had transmission issues and when the car began to smoke he pulled over.

The car was fully engulfed in flames and spread to nearby grass. It was quickly put out.
