AUSTIN (KXAN) - A new brush fire erupted Tuesday in the area near Yett Creek Park on Mustang Chase.
As of 3:15 p.m., officials said the fire burned two sheds, but no homes. The fire was "unofficially" out, they said. More details will be provided later Tuesday.
The fire was contained as of 2:30 p.m., according to reports from official sources.
Austin Energy said there are some power outages in the area that were caused by equipment malfunctions. Crews are working to restore power.
Extra crews were called in to ensure that the fire does not make its way to the nearby buildings. Police said some of the residents are being evacuated.
There are multiple spot fires in the area.
Neither Davis Elementary School nor Summit Elementary School was evacuated, as was rumored. They are not going to be evacuated, according to Austin Independent School District officials. Normal dismissal times and bus schedules are in place.
More information will be posted as it becomes available.
