AUSTIN (KXAN) - An Austin business owner with a history of controversial business practices has received a dubious distinction from the Better Business Bureau.
The BBB issued an F rating to Auction Agency, one of many companies owned by Christian Hunter.
Hunter was the center of controversy earlier this year when another one of his business ventures, My Town Media LLC, closed down unexpectedly without paying many of its employees wages they were owed.
Complaints against Auction Agency note the company misrepresented services and added charges to services that were either free or unwanted. Ther are currently 24 complaints including allegations of non-delivery, unauthorized charges, and dissatisfaction.
Auction Agency, a similar business to My Town Media, lists foreclosed homes and cars for sale.
The Department of Labor has opened up an investigation into My Town Media which shut down in April. Many of their almost 300 employees said they still are awaiting paychecks.
The BBB says attempts to discuss the complaints with Auction Agency have gone unanswered.
