BASTROP, Texas (KXAN) - A dump truck smashed into a power pole near State Highways 71 and 20 on Monday, choking traffic and interrupting electrical service for about 575 customers.
The wreck occurred around 10 a.m. and the force snapped the power pole, officials said. By 11:10, crews with The Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative were able to reroute the lines and restore power to those effected.
Traffic in both directions on SH 71 remained at a standstill while crews were on the scene.
