BASTROP COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) - The Bastrop County Sheriff's office said one of its deputies was involved in a shooting Wednesday afternoon but is not hurt.

Deputies were originally called to a home in the 100 block of Stony Mont Drive in the Del Valle area around 4 p.m. for a domestic disturbance between a daughter and father.

Authorities said the daughter feared for her life and said her father was armed. When the two deputies arrived at the home, they found an elderly man holding some kind of weapon. Deputies gave verbal commands and then multiple shots were fired.

The elderly man was taken by STARFlight to University Medical Center Brackenridge with a gunshot wound. His condition is unknown at this time. The deputies were not injured.

According to residents who live nearby, the person injured is an elderly man who recently had a stroke and was getting around in a wheelchair.

"[Deputy] said one time, 'lower your weapon,' shots began to be fired," said the witness, who goes by Joe. "He [deputy] jumped out of his car still firing,  jumps the fence shooting the whole time."

BCSO wouldn't say what kind of weapon the deputies were carrying and if both deputies had fired shots.

Both deputies involved have been placed on administrative duty pending an investigation. The Texas Rangers will take the lead on the investigation.
