BASTROP COUNTY, Texas - Two kids were sent to the hospital after they became ill from from inhaling a foul scent emanating from the school's waste water system in south Bastrop County Thursday evening.

Around 5:20 p.m., 25 students attending the after-school program at Red Rock Elementary School complained of nausea.

Worried that there might be a gas leak, officials called first responders to the school who quickly determined that it wasn't a gas leak that was making the kids sick, but rather the strong odor coming from the school's waste water system.

Donald Williams, spokeperson for Bastrop I.S.D said two kids were transported to Dell Children's Hospital to get checked out.

District employees were able to fix the problem and school will resume at regular time on Friday.

The spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Office said there was no immediate danger.
