BASTROP, Texas (KXAN) - Grants will be available to use for people who lost their home in the 2011 Bastrop fires.
The money will be coming from $31.3 million in community development block grants from the U.S. Department of housing and urban development.
To qualify, applicants must have proof that they had a home destroyed in the Bastrop fires and must not exceed 100 percent of the median family income which is about $76,000 a year for a family of four. Applications are due by Sept. 28 and grants will be handed out by the Texas General Land Office.
There will also be a down payment assistance program which will be available for people who may or may not have owned a home.
