BASTROP COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) - The driver who fled from a Bastrop County constable who was attempting to serve a warrant on Friday reached speeds of more than 100 mph, authorities said.
The constables office said it was trying to serve a warrant to a Travis County woman accused of not paying court-ordered child support when the man driving the car sped away. The man was killed when the vehicle ran into a tree on State Highway 95 near Big Sandy Creek between Bastrop and Elgin.
The constable's office said the man also was the subject of felony warrants, but they were not specifically looking for him to serve the warrant.
His name was not released as of Monday.
