BASTROP, Texas (KXAN) - Last year, during the Bastrop fires, KXAN News Photojournalist Juan Salinas met Pastor Mike Vega on the site where Word of Life Church once stood.
After Vega was evacuated from the area, he returned to his church, only to find it completely burned to the ground. But that didn't destroy the faith of Vega and his church family.
Almost a year later, Salinas visited with Vega again to see how the congregation is coming along.
Vega said he is hopeful the church can start rebuilding when 2013 comes around. Those who want to help can go to either Rebuilding Word of Life or Faith Impact Fellowship.
