BASTROP, Texas (KXAN) - Over one year after the Bastrop wildfires, volunteers transplated 500 new pine seedlings to help recovery efforts at the state park September 22.

The Texas Tourism Foundation's Friends of Travel Give Back program organized the day of service.

According to the Director of the Plano Convention  & Visitors Bureau, Mark Thompson, "This is just one small way for us to give back and to get the park that much closer to the planting the new trees."

Tomorrow many of the volunteers will still be in Bastrop for the start of the 2012 Texas Travel Summit conference at the Hyatt Lost Pines Resort.
