BEE CAVE, Texas (KXAN) - The Backyard has been an iconic Austin music venue for years, and it is in the process of moving up the road in Bee Cave .
As construction crews began work near the Galleria, original plans called to cut down several old trees. However, the owner decided he couldn't part with some of the 80-year-old trees.
As a result, crews loaded up the 80,000-pound trees and hauled them off to their new home elsewhere on the property.
"We've been building the venue where we can avoid cutting down trees of this nature, but in this case, there was no way around it because it's in the middle of one of the main entrances," said Kylee O'Neil, with Direct Events. "So that's why we picked it to move."
Musicians are set to play at the new location this spring.
