AUSTIN (KXAN) - It has been 20 years since the infamous Yogurt Shop murders and the case is no closer to being closed.

At the City of Austin's Public Safety Commission meeting on Monday afternoon, Co-Vice Chair Kim Rossmo suggested the case might be in need of a fresh set of eyes.

Rossmo asked for a discussion at the next Public Safety Commission meeting about whether to look for outside help in cracking the 1991 case.

She mentioned they could ask for help from retired detectives or investigators from another department.

Since the case is still active, Austin police said they'll have to have some careful discussions about whether or not those options are viable.

For more information on the murders, revisit our recap from December .
