AUSTIN (KXAN) - We’re off to a wet start to the workweek.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms dotted the radar Monday morning, and the chance for more rain continues through the afternoon.

Temperatures will stay cool, in the low- to mid-50s.

KXAN News photojournalist Mark Batchelder shot some morning video of the rainy drive on MoPac heading south.

An upper-level, low-pressure system is crossing the state Monday, sparking those showers. As of 7 a.m., Camp Mabry received 0.67 inches of rain since midnight. Most areas will see between 1 inches and 2 inches by the time the rain ends Monday night.

A viewer wrote in at 4:11 a.m. to say pea-size hail fell in Hutto.

The National Weather Service issued an Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for Fayette County after prolonged heavy rainfall over the county Monday morning.

Officials warn that some low water crossings and poor drainage areas could have standing water in them. The advisory is in effect until 8 a.m.

Expect clearing skies for Tuesday with cool conditions. Wednesday will likely be our best day with sunshine and highs in the upper 60s

Colder air moves in for Thursday and through the weekend, with lows in the 30s and highs in the 50s .

The upper-level low that is bringing all the wet weather to Central Texas this Monday morning will drop snow over West Texas Monday night.  Read more on the First Warning Weather blog.
