AUSTIN (KXAN) - A body was found partially submerged in water on the Barton Creek Greenbelt Thursday afternoon, and police awaited the arrival of the medical examiner to determine if it was a man or a woman.

A passerby spotted the body and called police, saying it was the body of a woman. However, once police arrived, they said because of the position of the body, they could not positively say what gender it is. They could not touch or move the body until the medical examiner arrived, who got to the scene at about 5 p.m.

Police said at 5:28 p.m. that the death does not appear to be suspicious.

The body was found at the fork in the road in from the entrance at Spyglass Drive. It was visible from the beaten path at that site.

On Tuesday, the body of 49-year-old man was found along Lady Bird Lake hike-and-bike trail. The death of William Roy Greer was ruled a homicide. And in mid-June, police found 34-year-old Valerie Godoy beaten to death on a bench in Duncan Park.

On Wednesday, police could not say whether the two deaths were related.

This body is the third one found dead outdoors in Austin since June 15.
