AUSTIN (KXAN) - The woman on the receiving end of the post-marathon marriage proposal featured in a photo after Sunday's race came forward in the wee hours of Monday morning.

"I am the lucky 'women in red' engaged to Ryan Grattan," Megan Day said in an email to KXAN time-stamped at 1:56 a.m. "I was so flattered by your article. I did say yes!!"

Day said she is an Intensive Care Unit nurse at University Medical Center Brackenridge and  volunteered in the Livestrong Austin medical tent so she could cheer on Grattan as he raced his fourth marathon.

"It ended up being such a memorable day," she added. "I turned around and all my family and close friends were there."

Grattan finished the race Sunday with a time of 5:13:11 and placed 287 out of 325. But he wasn't too pooped to pop the question.

He proposal was captured in a photo by Dwayne Hodgson, who sent it to KXAN via the ReportIt feature.

The woman in a red shirt was taken aback with what came next. The red-shirt-toting woman, with a look of excitement and surprise, staring at Grattan as onlookers gazed in their direction, peering in on a once-in-a-lifetime moment.

KXAN posted the photo on its website and Facebook page asking for help identifying the bride-to-be. Dozens of responses came in -- including the one from Day.
