AUSTIN (KXAN) - A woman who was being taken to the hospital after a domestic disturbance on Monday was charged with assaulting the paramedic who was tending her.

According to the arrest warrant affidavit released Tuesday, 29-year-old Elizabeth Cole of the 700 William Cannon Boulevard had become upset with the female paramedic who arrived after the domestic disturbance was reported. Cole punched the paramedic, the affidavit said.

After Cole was placed in the ambulance, the police officer who was following the vehicle to the hospital noticed that Cole kicked the paramedic in the belly.

Cole is charged with assault on a public service, a third-degree felony.
