AUSTIN (KXAN) - Police have arrested a woman they say had fled after a deadly hit-and-run on Sunday.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit released Wednesday, 28-year-old Rose Roddy was driving north bound on the frontage road of South Interstate 35 when she hit 23-year-old Lisa Arriaga.
According to documents, Arriaga was last seen alive walking in the middle of the road by two men who were driving by. When the men saw Arriaga they called police to report a woman walking in the middle of the road and they turned around.
By the time they got back to the area they found Arriaga's body on the side of the road.
According to the affidavit, Roddy had tried to avoid Arriaga but was not able to. She later told police she was scared and didn't know what to do. So she left to go get advice from a family member who advised her to call the police.
Roddy is charged with failure to stop and render aid and is being held on $12,000 bond. She is a teacher with the Austin school district and has been placed paid leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
