BookPeople launches July event

AUSTIN (KXAN) - BookPeople and nineteen other local businesses launch a month-long scavenger hunt celebrating the 25th year of the "Waldo" books.

Beginning July 1participants can pick up a "Find Waldo in Austin" card from BookPeople and search local businesses for the popular children's book character through the month.

On August 4th participants can bring the card back to BookPeople for a Waldo-themed party and a chance to win the complete six-volume set of Waldo books.

Where's Waldo was created in 1987.  There are over 55 million Waldo books in eighteen different languages. 

The books were created by Martin Handford. 

The "Find Waldo Local" event is part of a national campaign, with over 250 independent bookstores participating.
