AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin leaders on Monday unveiled a new plan to help protect residents from flood damage.

The city launched a website that shows where flood plains are in the city so people planning to buy a home know exactly what they're getting.

The site allows a user to type in a property address and it wiil show its proximity to rivers, creeks and ditches that could become flood hazards. Users also can have flooding information about a property mailed, emailed or faxed to them.
