AUSTIN (KXAN) - The deadline to register to vote looms on Tuesday and the Travis County Tax Office has one last trick to get people registered for the general election on Nov. 6.
Catch them while they eat.
Volunteers will be set up at area Thundercloud Subs restaurants as they try to reach a goal on the final day of registration.
The tax office is aiming for 650,000 registered voters in the county. As of Monday, 620,831 voters had registered meaning 80 percent of Travis County would be able to vote.
As many ast 1,800 volunteers are helping with the registration effort.
Tax Assessor Tina Morton says that percentage ranks highest among metro counties in Texas.
In 2008, 609,230 people were registered to vote for the 2008 general election and 66.1 percent actually cast a ballot.
