AUSTIN (KXAN) - New dash camera video from the Austin Police Department showing how a chase for a suspect lead to an officer's one day suspension.

While the actual chase happened in August, the department just gave KXAN News the copy of the video today.

The video shows Officer Hector Campos running stop signs and red traffic lights during a vehicle pursuit. According to a disciplinary memo, Campos failed to proceed with caution through the intersection of Rutland Drive and Mearns Meadows in north Austin.

The police chief determined Officer Campos violated rules by not making sure intersections were safe and clear while in pursuit.
