AUSTIN (KXAN) - The family of a man whose body was found along the Lady Bird Lake Hike and Bike Trail on July 24 spoke out Thursday, asking for the public's help to find his killer.
William Greer, 49, was new to Austin and homeless when his body was found that morning. The investigation showed that Greer was assaulted and killed along the trail, near West Cesar Chavez Street and Colorado Street.
His family gathered at that spot to ask for anyone with information to please come forward.
"It's really hard for me to believe that I'm standing here, asking for help to find out who murdered my dad," said Tangie Arrington. "We don't understand why anyone would want to hurt him, especially when he was most vulnerable, in his sleep."
Greer would have turned 50 years old five days after he was found dead.
"We just want, if somebody knows something,saw something hear something, to please come forward. The family needs some type of closure and we feel like we need justice for him. He didn't deserved this. He was sleeping."
