AUSTIN (KXAN) - Families filled with Texas Longhorn fans flocked to their turkey day tailgates as early as 6AM to continue their Thanksgiving Day tradition.

But there was someone missing from the dinner table this year.

“It is a little sad. We should be playing the Aggies today,” said UT fan Megan Strickland.

Conference realignment meant the TCU Horned Frogs became the new opponent on Thanksgiving, replacing the familiar Texas A&M Aggies.

Opinions about the change are varied, but tailgaters did notice that there wasn’t quite the same buzz on Thursday morning.

“It is a little sad not having them in the lot anymore,” said Wendy Poole.

But not everyone misses their old Thanksgiving dinner mates.

“To be perfectly honest, I don’t miss the Aggies at all,” said Rusty Kegans.
