Two bond plans coming to City Council

One costs $400 million, the other $575 million

AUSTIN (KXAN) - Just a little more than three months away from Austin’s planned bond election on Nov. 6, residents are voiced their concerns and offered suggestions over two plans Thursday before the Austin City Council.

The city’s bond task force gave council members $400 million and $575 million options. Either would be the city’s largest bond package since 2006.

Faced with a decision within the next couple of weeks on which projects will make the final cut, council members will likely include funding for transportation infrastructure, city facilities, affordable housing and parks.

Additionally, the task force recommended community-based projects like the Austin Film Studios expansion and the 51st Street Vision Plan.
