AUSTIN (KXAN) - One man's trash is another man's treasure. In this case, one man's trash is another man's fashion statement!

At the second annual Trash Makeover Challenge on Saturday, fashion designers, fashionistas, and people who care about the environment came to be awed by what can be made into fashion.

The event is thrown by the Texas Campaign for the Environment to celebrate 21 years of protecting air, water, land and health.

Designers from around the state display stunning outfits made from recycled materials. Not only are the clothes made from recycled materials but so are the accessories. You can see items made out of straws, plastic bags, and even aluminum foil.

The Trash Makeover is a zero waste event -- at least 90 percent of discards will be reused, recycled or composted.
