AUSTIN (KXAN) - A pickup truck flipped on Interstate 35 just before 4 a.m., killing a passenger and injuring the driver.
The truck rolled from the main northbound lanes in the 12000 block of the interstate, just north of State Highway 45, into the median.
The man riding in the car was taken to a hospital, but was pronounced dead at 4:45 a.m. The woman behind the wheel suffered a leg injury and is expected to recover. Neither was immediately identified.
Austin police officers closed two main lanes of northbound I-35 closed while they investigated the crash. As of 7 A.M. all lanes were open according to TxDOT.
On Wednesday, Austin Police vowed to enforce traffic laws better to hopefully prevent more fatalities on the road.
This is the third traffic fatality of 2013. There were 80 traffic fatalities in 2012 .
