AUSTIN (KXAN) - Austin police officers caught carjacking, burglary and car theft suspects overnight, after three separate car chases.

The first chase began at 11:07 p.m. Monday, when an officer spotted a stolen car in the 1300 block of Southport Drive in South Austin. The driver took off but gave up a few blocks down on Southridge Drive. That suspect is now in police custody.

About half an hour later, a call about a suspicious car led police to Quinton Drive in Southeast Austin. Officers started chasing three men, suspected in a carjacking near LBJ High School earlier Monday.

Police said the suspects got out of the car on Bumpstead Drive and ran. Officers were able to catch two of them and said they know the identity of the third suspect.

Police said they also recovered a firearm inside the car that they believe was used in the carjacking.

Then, at about 12:40 a.m. Tuesday, a woman on Carnarvon Lane in Southeast Austin saw men burglarizing her neighbor's house.

She walked over to write down their license plate number, but one of the suspects confronted her and hit her on the head. She went to the hospital, but her injuries are minor.

Those four suspects drove away, with police not far behind. The chase continued for more than four miles, until the suspects reportedly bailed out of the car on Wagon Bend. Officers caught three of the four men and continue to look for the fourth.
