AUSTIN (KXAN) - Three men are facing felony charges with after police said they broke in to several boats at Emerald Point Marina on Lake Travis on Monday night.
Officials say the men stole items and even took someone's yacht out for a joy ride.
Security management at Emerald Point Marina say the men are charged with burglary and with unauthorized use of a vehicle.
Officials say the three took an expensive yacht for a joy ride and stole items from other boats at the marina.
Shane Allaire, the owner of Sunset Security and Management, says one of the men arrested, 19-year-old Wesley Adam Collins, parked his car at the marina Monday night. And that's what tipped off security.
Sunset Security and Management has patrolled Emerald Point for a decade. So when Allaire didn't recognize the car, he new something was up.
He noticed one of the yachts missing. He called the owner, who wasn't using the boat and said no one should have been on it.
Travis County Sheriffs Deputies came out, and they waited until the yacht returned with the three men on board.
"Their car was still here, so we knew they were going to be coming back to the car," Allaire said, "So, when the deputies arrived we just kind of hid out, and we noticed the lights from the boat coming back across the lake. They were returning the boat so they could leave in their car. They had a hard time parking the boat. They got it parked, but that's when we approached them and deputies took over from there."
Deputies arrested Collins and the other two men -- Charles Stone and Evan Pinkston, both 20.
They also found that four other yachts at the marina were broken into and items were missing.
Allaire says the yacht the three men took out is a $200,000 boat.
He says the men damaged it and trashed the interior.
