Texas Women's Week set for Oct 22 - 26

AUSTIN (KXAN) - Mayor Lee Leffingwell has proclaimed this week, Oct. 22-26, as Texas Women’s Week in conjunction with the Texas Conference for Women and the Austin Young Women's Alliance voter education conference.

“Texas women continue to lead the charge in public service, private industry, education, healthcare, innovation, the arts, small business and every aspect of our community,” said Leffingwell. “This week, several events provide women the opportunity to inspire, connect and learn from one another while teaching us all how to build a better future for Texas.”

The Texas Conference for Women happens Wednesday at the Austin Convention Center , located at 500 E. Cesar Chavez St. Hosted by First Lady Anita Perry, the conference offers opportunities for business networking, professional development and personal growth.

The nonprofit, non-partisan event features inspirational keynote speakers, skill-building breakout sessions and ample opportunities to develop new relationships with other women. With sessions ranging from personal finance to health and wellness to career advancement, this unique event offers something for everyone, according to organizers.

The Austin Young Women’s Alliance will hold a voter education conference on local elections Monday at Copa Bar and Grill , 217 Congress Ave. from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

“This week Austin can celebrate the work women have done to put our city on the top of every top 10 list,” said Leffingwell. “We look forward to the ideas and the spirit generated this week that will continue to make Austin the greatest city in the United States.”
